🇪🇬 Why Is Tipping (Baksheesh) Common?

In Egypt, many service workers earn low wages, so tips are a major part of their income. A small gesture of appreciation can ensure excellent service and a warm smile in return.

🏨 Hotels

• 🧳 Bellboy / Porter: 20–50 EGP per bag
• 🧹 Housekeeping: 20–50 EGP per day (leave daily)
• 🛎️ Concierge: 50–100 EGP for special services
• 👨‍🍳 Hotel Restaurant: 10–15% if service charge isn’t included

🍽️ Restaurants & Cafés

• 💸 Restaurants: 10–15% of the bill if not already added
• ☕ Cafés: Round up or leave 50–100 EGP
• 📦 Food Delivery: 10–20 EGP or round up

Note: Some restaurants add a 12% service charge—but it may not reach the staff. A small cash tip is always appreciated.

🚖 Taxis & Ride Apps

🛕 Tour Guides & Drivers
